[Editor's Note: PE Carolyn Inglis will be handling today's meeting, since President Eleanor took a last-minute trip back east to visit her ailing mother.]
This week’s program will be presented by the Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County with Lynn Skrukrud, Youth Coordinator, as the speaker. With their new board and some new ideas, we look forward to exploring ways that we can assist this organization and the youth of our community.
The Children's Festival is returning to Pioneer Park on Friday, July 16th. Volunteers are needed to setup, staff craft booths, and clean-up. Watch for the sign-up sheet at today's meeting. This is a Renaissance Faire for children. There will be arts & crafts, music, jugglers, face painting, castle building, fortune telling, fencing demonstrations, craftsmen, and a fire-breathing dragon!
Look for the sign-up sheet for the Fair Booth on August 11-15. During these five days, the club members will be cooking, preparing, and selling pulled pork and BBQ beef sandwiches. Please sign-up for at least one shift. The Fair Booth is one of the two events of the club where every member is expected to participate -- or pay a hefty fine!
Also, look for the sign-up sheet for Rotary Day at the River Cats on August 1st. The River Cats game is a family outing and is always lots of fun. It's also a time to visit with Rotarians within our club, within our District, and even with those in District 5180 (Sacramento area). But if you need another excuse, proceeds help benefit Polio Plus. Thanks to John Hazelwood for organizing it for us!
Lastly, we still need to name this column. Please give your suggestions to either Pres Eleanor or to pP David, the Rotario editor. We will let the club members vote (at least some things are done in a democratic fashion!).
