Now-pP Michael Colantuono laughs as his "Defense Attorney" George Rebane argues his case to "Judge" Ellen Davis.
Eleanor's Mysterious Column

Well, here we are with a new Rotary year, a new president and the need to name this column. Please give your suggestions to either Pres Eleanor or to pP David, the Rotario editor. We will let the club members vote (at least some things are done in a democratic fashion!).

Our first meeting together will be a real PARTY! AG Gil Mathew will be on-hand to welcome the new Board, as will the new Presidents of South County, 49er, Grass Valley, and Penn Valley clubs.

What a great Demotion Party we had for now-pP Michael (he’s so proud of that new title)! Thanks to Dixie Redfearn and her committee for putting on such a fun evening. The skit was great as usual, Cathy Wilcox-Barnes, as Michael was tried in a court of "law" for being a wine snob and pretending to be a Rotary Club President.

This week’s program will be presented by the Coalition for a Drug Free Nevada County with Lynn Skrukrud, Youth Coordinator, as the speaker. With their new board and some new ideas, we look forward to exploring ways that we can assist this organization and the youth of our community.

This week, we will begin the sign-ups for Rotary Day at the River Cats on August 1st and for the Fair Booth on August 11-15. The River Cats game is a family outing and is always lots of fun. Thanks to John Hazelwood for organizing it for us! And the Fair Booth is one of the two events of the club where every member is expected to participate -- or pay a hefty fine!

  Club News

LEFT: Now-pP Michael thanks the members for making the past year memorable. RIGHT: The Bell is handed off to Now-President Eleanor Kenitzer, but rumor has it that The Bell quickly left her custody.

The annual Childrens Festival is scheduled for Friday, July 16th. Volunteers will be needed to setup, staff craft booths, and clean-up. Watch for the sign-up sheet coming soon...
On Saturday, July 24th, the District will be holding a Foundation Seminar and a Youth Services Seminar (concurrently) at the Atlantis Resort in Reno. Talk to pP David Kenitzer for more details.
Save the Date! Our first fundraiser of the Rotary Year is the Fair Booth, where we sell pulled pork and BBQ beef sandwiches. The Nevada County Fair runs from August 11 - 15. Watch for the sign-up sheet being passed around today's meeting.
